The Department of Civil Engineering of RCE was established with vision to became the finest centers of advanced research and training in the field of civil engineering and pro-active in industrial interaction and technology.Civil Engineers build the world’s infrastructure, which encompasses Railways, Highways, Bridges, Water-works, Skyscrapers, Canals, Wharves, Industrial Buildings, Rapid Transit Systems, and Power Plants etc. They deal with the design, construction, maintenance and repair of structures. There are opportunities galore for civil engineers, with new players entering the market and more large-scale developments announced around the globe. In RCCE , the four-year B. Tech program of the Department is dedicated to delivering technically proficient and ethically responsible engineers to the society.Top notch laboratory resources are essential for the development of a modern day technocrat. The Department boasts of well equipped labs, manned by highly competent staff. The various laboratories that come under the purview of the Department of Civil Engineering are Strength of Materials Lab, Hydraulics Lab, Survey Lab, Geotechnical Engineering Lab, Concrete Technology Lab, Computer Aided Engineering Drawing Lab and Transportation Engineering Lab,GIS &CAD Lab and Engineering Geology Lab.

Dr. K. Sundara Kumar

HOD & Professor

Dr. K. Sundara Kumar is currently working as Professor of Civil Engineering. He completed his B.Tech in Civil Engineering from JNTUK and M.Tech in Environmental Engineering from IIT-Madras and Ph.D in Environmental Remote Sensing from JNTUK. He is having more than 25years of experience including 1.5 years as HOD in BVC EC, 10.5 years as HOD in Usha Rama College of Engg. and Tech, 2 years as Associate Professor in KL University, 2 years as Sr.Asst. Professor in GMR IT, 6 years as Asst.Prof in PVP SIT and 5 years in Construction industry. He was Awarded with the “Best Teacher” in the for the academic years 2015- 16 & 2016- 17 by Usha Rama College of Engineering and Technology, and for the academic year 2010-11 by K L University. Received Jai Upadhyay Puraskar from Lions Club, Vijayawada in 2017. Selected by APPSC as Assistant Executive Engineer in R&B, Govt. of A.P in 2008 through direct recruitment. He was ratified by JNTUH and JNTUK. He has completed a funded research project worth Rs. 20 Lacs from DST and having a project worth of 40lacs from SERB under processing. He has published more than 60 international journal publications including SCI, SCOPUS, UGC-Care and other reputed journals. He has presented papers in more than 10 international conferences with proceedings in IEEE Explore and Springer Nature(Web of Science). His research acquired more than 36 citations in SCOPUS and more than 832 citations in Google Scholar with h-index: 12 and i-10 index: 14 He has 1-patent grant and 6-patents published and authored one Text Book. Conducted several conferences, workshops, seminars and gave several guest lectures at different colleges. He is a life member of ISTE, IE(I) and EPS.
